Went back again tonight, great service, yummy calamari, tasty drinks and best of all happy hour prices are terrific.
Good food. Good service! Well taken care of by Julie and she was great. Very friendly and attentive. We have since gone back and the food is delicious. The tiramisu was the best!
Was an amazing dinner tonight, my guy and I haven't been to Fortuna in a while, but wow, amazing service, food cooked to perfection, ambiance was amazing. And Billi Jo didn't disappoint, with her amazing service at the bar! Was so nice to be at a local restaurant where the management and owners still come out to greet you , make sure all was good with your food and your actual experience! Hands down, you should try if in the Bellevue area! Can't wait to come back and check out their new happy hour, Monday-Sunday/ 7 days a week..4:30-6:30 Thanks for a great time/dinner
Great menu selection. Very personable wait staff. Beware of their seemingly loud sound system for their live music shows. We found useless having to raise our voices to carry on any conversation! Lol.
We loved just about everything here with only a single split decision. First off, the manager was incredibly helpful in accommodating my wife's dietary limitations without sacrificing anything important. Our server was excellent. The vibe is stylishly comfortable. At our table of 5 we had: a half dozen oysters, which were perfectly chilled, nice size, good cocktail sauce; a Caesar salad and a split Fortuna salad minus burrata and croutons, both salads nice mix, well prepared; scallops for my wife, prepared simply with lemon and butter, with sides of roasted fingerlings and squash, all great; son had strip steak, cooked perfectly, very flavorful; DIL had the chicken piccata, which she said was delicious; and grandson and I both had the steak frites, once again the steak was cooked to order and very tasty. The split decision was on the frites, which seemed a little like hash browns, liked by one, neutral by one, and disliked by two, though we all agreed some good, hand cut homemade French fries would have been better. We had an excellent red blend wine, Baby Blue, for 3 of us, craft beer for 1, and Coke for 1. All in all, a really wonderful evening dining out while visiting family in the area.
Love Fortuna! This place is amazing! Super local vibe, friendly service, and the food was to die for. I highly recommend you check it out!
The food and service were so good at Fortuna last evening. My husband had scallops, risotto and kale. I had the chicken piccata, stir fried vegetables and we shared the grilled Caesar salad. The food was excellent.
What a wonderful dining experience! Angelo, our server, was spot on Friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and keen to know when to come by and check on us, amongst other enjoyable qualities The food, drink and atmosphere all top notch! My husband had the filet with mashed potatoes and broccolini- all were excellent! I had the veggie flatbread, Caesar salad, squash risotto and asparagus, everything was delicious Wine specials, live music, great service, great food! We look forward to returning
We had an absolutely amazing dinner! Starting with the sangria, both red and white and bread with whipped butter, we knew we were in for a treat with the quality and taste so far. I had the gnocchi with short rib and roasted squash and my husband had a the ribeye. My meal was so flavorful and well balanced, my only critique would be to ask for more of that roasted squash, there simply wasn't enough! My husband always gets a steak if we go out, he can't resist, and he has high standards for steak. Of all the places we've been to in the Nashville area, he says this was the BEST steak he's had-- both cooked and flavor-wise. We ended the meal with the Basque cheesecake which is "burnt" on top (intentionally!). The caramelized top from the browning of sugar and cream cheese adds so much richness. The interior is creamy and super smooth. Ever since I've had this style of cheesecake in Spain I've dreamed of having it again. It didn't disappoint and we asked for a second slice to take to friends. Our server, David, was also wonderful, he was welcoming and made sure we were well taken care of. He had the gift of being at the table when you're ready to order and check in without being too present. That's a special talent anymore, we haven't had service like this in quite some time. It's a special occasion price point for us, but that's not a complaint by any means, every bite was worth the price. We may not be weekly diners, but we will make this our special date night restaurant.
Finally got to Fortuna for a solo Father's Day meal. Being solo, I sat at the bar and was attended to by Rainey, who used to bartend at Bar Louie in One Bellevue Place. Great service, as always (which says something, at least to me, as the Bellevue Bar Louie can be a dumpster fire of badness - Happy Hour at the bar an exception?). As a full disclosure, I am rating partially on potential, as I think the food and atmosphere are definitely 5 star, but there are still some kinks. I also gave a bump as I think the one star reviews are written out of ignorance over the type of restaurant, food, and that a soft opening turned into a major storm (which would hurt any new restaurant). I hope the people rating that way get educated on the food and give it another try. I like what they did to the place, which is somewhat minimal. If you ever visited the Applebee's before it's early demise, the layout is similar. Some of the televisions have been moved around but play classic movies instead of sports (ala Chauhan in the Gulch, albeit not classic Bollywood). The colors and layout are classic enough to go upscale casual (which Fortuna is) or more sports bar, which Applebee's was. The reuse of cabinets near the bar for wine selections tips to the casual upscale side. The starter menu (see pictures) screams steakhouse, with some raw bar, salads, pasta, and Italian classics (mostly around meat). Talking to the chef, the beef comes from their own commissary, which also sells to many restaurants in the Nashville area. As such, you will get a good cut at a better price point than some other spots. For my meal, I started with a Fortuna Salad with the basalmic ranch dressing. Was not sure about basalmic in ranch, but the mixture of fat and sour actually work well. The salad is made with a mescalin mix, roasted tomatoes, bacon, and burrata cheese (see picture). My main course was a ribeye with mushroom risotto. The ribeye was a perfect medium rare (not as evident in the picture) with a nice crust on the outside. Very hot grill, a good understanding of time to temp. I opted for black garlic (fermented garlic) butter for the topping, but was also tempted by the demi-glace. The mushroom risotto was creamy with a wonderful flavor. If I had one suggestion here, I would bring in a roasted garlic flavor to complement the mushrooms. As an aside, I do risotto at home and it is very labor intensive and easy to mess up, so kudos to the chef. To pair with the steak, I chose a Montepulciano, which is a Tuscan blend with Sangiovese as the base. The slight spiciness worked well as a complement to the steak, but after ordering we talked wine and realized the house "Il Bastardo" (yes, it means what you think) is a Sangiovese and should pair as well as the Montepulciano (I will add an update when I get a Ny Strip and the Sangiovese). To end, I tried the cheesecake. Browned top with a custard like middle, which is very authentic to the style. Topped with a basalmic drizzle and macerated strawberries, giving it a very elegant tone. I boxed up the meal to make room for a bit of cheesecake, but ended up eating the entire thing while I sat at the bar. I can't say much about the Italian dishes, as I did not have anyone else around to sample various dishes. I will likely find that chance at some point and rectify the situation. Of the other items, I am most curious about the Veal Saltimbocca off the favorites and the Carbonara and Gnocchi Bolognese (a hard dish to get right) on the pasta menu. As for the one star reviews, I think we need to level set. Fortuna attempted a soft opening, but the "first post" crowd felt everyone needed to know they were open and slammed them (a success problem, as few, if any, restaurants are prepared for an onslaught during a soft open). Second, If you want to compare fairly, this is closer to one of our downtown steakhouses, with an Italian flair, than Olive Garden (McDonald's is right out). It might not be on top of the best steakhouses in Nashville, but the price point is a bit lower, which fits the upscale casual vein.
